Dandy Dorothy - InBetweenBranches First Original Runway Collection - Full Show
In February 2022 Jess extended an invitation for me to present at a fashion show they were producing in partnership with the Martin. Though I had really just begun my sewing journey, I knew I couldn’t pass up on this opportunity. And so began my task to design and create my first original 12 look runway collection.
Soon after signing on I was introduced to Carlos, the other designer that would be presenting a collection alongside Jess and I. The three of us had really great chemistry instantly and a similar vision for what we wanted the show look like. Working to create this beautiful event and presentation while challenging myself creatively alongside these two amazing people was such a joy. I’ve been both humbled and forged stronger by the entire experience.
I feel that we all entered into this experience with something to prove to our individual selves and that was a key to the passion behind the event. That and the emphasis on inclusion, diversity, & fairness with our models.
Overall I am so happy with my very first collection, which I was able to create in that extremely short amount of time. As a beginner at sewing I had so much fun experimenting with shapes and what could be considered clothing / wearables. All pieces seen in my collection were designed, crafted, and sewn all by me.
